Kapiolani Boulevard Water & Sewer System Improvements

This project’s goal is to rehabilitate the existing sewer and water systems along Kapiolani Boulevard. The areas of rehab include Kapiolani Boulevard from Ward Avenue to Kalakaua Avenue, Kalakaua Avenue from Kapiolani Boulevard to Ala Wai Canal.
The construction consists of installing new water mains and laterals, rehabilitating sewer lines using Cured-In-Place Pipe methods, reconstructing deteriorated sewer manholes, upgrading the electrical system for traffic signals, installing new curb ramps and repaving and restriping portions of travel lanes.
Aloha Tower Drive, Nimitz Highway and Richards Street 12” and 16” Mains
This project entails the installation of 16-inch water main along Nimitz Highway from Richards Street to Alakea Street and along Richards Street from Nimitz Highway to Aloha Tower Drive and the installation of a 12-inch water main along Aloha Tower Drive from Richards Street to Bishop Street.
Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 5A (Beretania Street from North King Street to Alapai Street)

This City and County of Honolulu, Department of Design and Construction project consists of repaving and restriping the section of Beretania Street from North King Street to Alapai Street. In addition, the project entails reconstructing portions of sidewalk, installing new curb ramps and upgrading the electrical system for traffic signals.
Fort DeRussy Sewer Force Main Extension (Kapiolani Boulevard to Kanunu Street)
The project entails the extension of the Fort DeRussy sewer force main from Kapiolani Boulevard to Kanunu Street.
Kalakaua Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation
This project will replace 1500 feet of existing 6-inch and 8-inch terra cotta sewer pipe with new 8-inch and 10-inch PVC sewer pipe under the sidewalks on the Waikiki side of Kalakaua Avenue.
New Beachwalk Force Main

This project will install approximately 6,000 lineal feet of new 84” – 88” diameter pipe by trenchless methods. Either a single large diameter line, or dual smaller diameter lines will be installed within the new 84” – 88” diameter pipe dependent on the final function (gravity main or force main) of the line. Presently, a report is being prepared to evaluate different force main/gravity main/pump station configurations. The new line will start on the mauka side of the Ala Wai Canal, near Ala Wai Elementary School, and will continue along the mauka edge of the canal until the McCully Bridge. At the McCully Bridge, the new line will cross under the Ala Wai Canal to the makai side of the canal and continue along the makai edge of the canal until the Ala Moana Bridge. At the Ala Moana Bridge, the new line will cross under the Ala Wai Canal and will terminate newr the existing Moana Park Wastewater Pump Station in Ala Moana Park.
Kapiolani Area Revised Sewer System
This project involves the rehabilitation of various sewer lines connected to the Kapiolani Trunk Sewer in the Kapiolani are. The sewer system consists of 6” to 21” diameter pipes made of vitrified clay, cast iron, and terra cotta materials, with a small section on Rycroft Street constructed with “orangeberg” pipe. The project proposes to rehabilitate approximately 1864 lineal feet of sewer line via cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) construction, replace approximately 2669 lineal feet via open-cut trench construction, rehabilitate/repair 3 existing sewer manholes and install 6 new sewer manholes.
